About Canadian Savings Rates
Canadian Savings Rates tracks HISA rates from online banks, fintechs, trust companies, and credit unions across Canada. It's independent — no bank owns it, no bank funds it.
How the rates are collected
Scrapers run daily around 9 AM ET and pull the advertised rate directly from each institution's website. Each rate is saved with the date it was observed, so the history pages show exactly how rates have moved over time.
We only record rates that appear in the page's static HTML. If a rate is loaded by JavaScript after the page renders, we skip it rather than guess. Every number on this site links back to the source page so you can check it yourself.
Deposit insurance
The CDIC labels on each institution matter. There's a real difference between a bank that is a direct CDIC member and a fintech that holds your money at a member bank on your behalf. We flag that distinction clearly, including provincial credit union coverage where it applies.
Affiliate links
Some "Open Account" buttons are affiliate links. If you open an account through one, we may get a small commission. It doesn't change what rates we show or how we rank them. Full details are in the affiliate disclosure.
